Lions Nursery and Primary School, Gonikoppal, has introduced an initiative titled Gift a Book for Birthdays to nurture reading habits among students. Students are encouraged to donate a book to the school library on their birthday instead of distributing chocolates. Each donated book carries the student’s name, date of birth and photograph, making it a personal contribution to the library. Parents are guided to select books suitable to the child’s reading level and interests. Headmistress Taj Thangamma said the initiative aims to instil a lasting love for reading among students from LKG to class 7.
