A Dharwad Zone player was reportedly suspended for a match after an on-field scuffle between him and a Mangalore Zone player following their drawn match in the SA Srinivasan Memorial Trophy under-23 tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
After the end of what was said to be a heated match, in which Mangalore Zone took the first innings lead, players from both teams were shaking hands when a verbal spat broke out between the two players.
The argument, eyewitnesses claimed, soon escalated into a physical altercation before other players intervened and stopped the tussle.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association officials held a meeting following the incident and decided to hand a one-match suspension to the Dharwad Zone player, claimed sources in the association.
