The classroom feels so still today,
Your gentle paws have gone away.
No sleepy sigh beside the chair,
No loving eyes that used to care.
You'd wander in when class began,
And sit so sweet beside our ma'am.
Obedient, calm - her precious pride,
Forever faithful by her side.
When we would work or quietly write,
You'd curl up softly, pure delight.
A gentle warmth, a friend so near,
Who made the dullest lessons dear.
A little pat upon your head,
You'd close your eyes and rest instead.
Dreams would dance behind your fur,
As ma'am's soft voice went on - like her.
You loved us all - each child, each day,
You'd greet us in your golden way.
With wagging tail and trusting heart,
You turned our class to living art.
And now the mat where you would lie
Just waits in silence - makes us cry.
We glance the door - we think you’ll come,
That little hope that keeps us numb.
When we would work or quietly write,
You'd curl up softly, pure delight.
A gentle warmth, a friend so near,
Who made the dullest lessons dear.
A little pat upon your head,
You'd close your eyes and rest instead.
Dreams would dance behind your fur,
As ma'am's soft voice went on - like her.
You loved us all - each child, each day,
You'd greet us in your golden way.
With wagging tail and trusting heart,
You turned our class to living art.
And now the mat where you would lie
Just waits in silence - makes us cry.
We glance the door - we think you’ll come,
That little hope that keeps us numb.
But heaven called, and you took flight,
To fields of endless warmth and light.
Yet in our hearts, you still remain,
Through love that time cannot contain.
For kindness never fades or ends,
And souls like yours, dear June, transcend.
You were our joy, our gentle tune
Forever loved, forever June.
