17 natl artists to take part in ‘Kopparige’ art camp from April 23

A national-level art camp titled 'Kopparige' will be organised from April 23 to 25 at Balavana in Koppa in which 17 national-level artists will take part.

Informing the same to reporters here on Friday, Mahalasa Art School head N S Pattar said that the camp is jointly organised by Balavana, Forest Department and Education Department.

It aims at helping children develop their inner energy by giving them a platform to freely express themselves through painting.

The artworks created during the camp would be displayed at Balavana in Koppa.

Nationally acclaimed artists who will be taking part in the camp include Kandan G (Mangaluru), Ramesh Rao (Udupi), Dr Akthar Hussain (Mangaluru), Babu Rao Nadoni (Belagavi), Abhilash (Mandya), N S Pathar (Mangaluru), Mohan Sona (Sullia), Basavaraj Kuthni (Gadag), Ravi M R (Sullia), Vishwas (Kasargod), Jayawanth (Manipal), Purushotham Adve (Udupi), Dinesh Holla (Mangaluru), Praveen (Bengaluru), M N Narasimhamurthi (Bengaluru) and Wilson D’Souza (Kasargod).

The camp will be inaugurated by senior artist Suresh Chandra Dutta on April 23 at 10:30 am at Balavana, near toll gate at Koppa.

Artists’ Forum (Udupi) president Ramesh Rao, artist and founder trustee of Yenepoya University Dr Akhther Hussein and Koppa DFO Thakath Singh Ranavath will be the guests.

Marriage in forest

The three-day camp is a part of the 10-day camp for children which started on April 16.

Quite interestingly, artist Chethan Koppa will tie the knot with teacher cum artist Akshatha during the valedictory of the camp at Balavana on April 25, informed Swaroopa Adyayana Kendra director Gopadkar.

Artists Kandan G and Vishwas M were present at the press meet.
