Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s bandh call demanding farmers loan waivers evoked poor response in the district headquarters here on Monday. Normal life prevailed in the city and public transport system operated normally and private and government offices too functioned as usual.
Led by MLAs Abhay Patil and Anil Benke, BJP workers and leaders staged a demonstration at Channamma Circle demanding loan waiver of farmers as promised by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in the party election manifesto.
BJP workers and leaders formed human chain and blocked traffic movement at the circle. They also staged sit-in protests.
Police took the BJP workers and leaders into custody and cleared the road for traffic.
