JOIN USThe BJP has announced its candidates for Hubballi-Dharwad East and Kundgol constituencies in Dharwad district, in its third list of candidates.
Among 14 aspirants including former MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi, Chandrashekhar Gokak is successful in getting the BJP ticket for Hubballi-Dharwad East constituency. The BJP has also decided to field former MLA S I Chikkanagoudar in Kundgol constituency. With this, the BJP has finalised its candidates for all seven constituencies in the district.
After the announcement of BJP candidate, Madiga community leaders and others visited Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar's residence, urging the BJP to field former MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi from Hubballi-Dharwad East constituency. Halaharavi's supporters staged protest in front of Shettar's residence and at Chennamma Circle.

Since Thursday evening, supporters and family members of M R Patil staged protests, seeking BJP ticket for him to contest from Kundgol constituency.
During the protest in front of Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assmebly Jagadish Shettar's residence on Thursday evening, BJP Yuva Morcha leader Kalmesh Belavatagi tried to commit suicide by pouring kerosene on himself, while others stopped him. Mr Patil wife Sharadabayi, wife Shashikala, children Airshwarya, Shruti, and others also took part in the protest.
On Friday morning, a protest was staged in front of MP Pralhad Joshi's residence. Mr Patil's supporters wrote letters in their blood, seeking BJP ticket for him. After the ticket announcement, they stated that a decision would be taken on Saturday.
BJP ticket aspirant from Kalghatagi C M Nimbannavar also met Mr Shettar on Thursday, and sought another chance be the BJP candidate. Mr Nimbannavar later stated that he would face the polls, even as an independent candidate. BJP has announced Mahesh Tenginkai as its candidate for Kalghatagi constituency.
