A team of officials from the land survey department of the union government, on Tuesday, conducted a survey of the iron ore mines on the border between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to examine the mining boundaries. The two states are locked in a dispute over the mining boundaries.

The 20-member team led by the additional deputy surveyor general of the department is in the city and will continue the survey work till May 31, using modern technology. The team held talks with Manish Modgil, commissioner of the state survey and land records department.

The Obulapuram Mining Company faces charges that it has destroyed the state’s border to its advantage for mining purposes.

The Supreme Court had, in 2013, ordered for the border survey. It had given 12 weeks’ time to undertake the same, in its order dated December 7, 2017.
