Clash: Video of actor moving around with sword goes viral

A video of a Tulu actor Surendra Bantwal, moving around with a sword and threatening a group following a clash between the two groups at Baddakatte in Bantwal taluk, has gone viral on social media.

A group, led by BJP activist Bhuvith Shetty, had allegedly assaulted a man at a barber shop at Baddakatte on Sunday. In retaliation, the group, led by Surendra Bantwal, allegedly assaulted Bhuvith Shetty’s gang. Later, the video of Surendra Bantwal moving around with a sword and threatening the opponents has gone viral.

Surendra and his men allegedly attempted to assault when four members were having meals at a hotel in Baddakatte on Monday. The police have filed cases against seven persons, including Surendra Bantwal and his accomplices Manohar and Prathvi.

The BJP leaders were making preparations for BJP representatives and Page Pramukhs’ convention at Bantara Bhavana in Bantwal on June 12 and had come to Baddakatte for meals.

The injured are Mani GP member Ganesh Rai, Manoj, Pushparaj Alethooru and Prakash. They have been admitted to a hospital.

The injured, in their complaint, alleged that Surendra and his gang had assaulted them and took away 36-gram gold chain, Rs 10,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

The clash began following an allegation that one Deekshith, who was working in a saloon, had posted derogatory posts on social media. BJP activists Bhuvith Shetty, Kamalaksha, Jeethu alias Jithendra and Vasanth had forcibly entered saloon on Sunday and assaulted Deekshit. The gang had also damaged the mirror in the saloon. A case in this regard was also registered.

Reacting to it, SP B R Ravikanthe Gowda said, “Bhuvith Shetty’s team had assaulted the relative of Surendra Bantwal. In retaliation, Surendra had attempted to assault. An attempt to murder case has been registered. A special team has been constituted to nab the members of both the gang.”
