Last Updated 28 September 2018, 09:18 IST

Terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda as a political statement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah noted that it clearly showed that BJP and JD(S) have a tacit understanding.

"During Lok Sabha elections, Modi had stated that Deve Gowda needed old-age care and is now praising him. BJP and JD(S) are not blaming each other now. BJP and JD(S) have joined hands in Chamundeshwari, Varuna, KR Nagar and other constituencies. But, they cannot defeat me, as I have people's support," he said.

Before leaving for Haveri district, Siddaramaiah told media persons here on Wednesday that he speaks about issues related to the BJP in North Karnataka region, where JD(S) has no presence, and he attacks only the JD(S) in South Karnataka districts, where BJP has no MLA.

'BSY lacks legal knowledge'

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa is cornered in the BJP itself. Though his son B Y Vijayendra campaigned in Varuna constituency for one month, why the ticket was not given to him and who was behind that? Are BJP leaders Santosh, Ananth Kumar, Jagadish Shettar, K S Eshwarappa and others together? If all were united, why BJP ticket was not given to Vijayendra and Shobha Karandlaje, he asked.

Yeddyurappa lacks minimum legal knowledge, and therefore, he is telling that he would jail me soon after becoming the chief minister. First of all, he would not come to power, and I am also not facing any criminal charges. Yeddyurappa is saying so because of fear of defeat, and he is facing several cases, he noted.

When asked about Congress ticket given for Anand Singh, Satish Sail and others, Siddaramaiah said, "they are not convicted, and we do not support corrupt persons".

In reply to Narendra Modi's dynastic politics allegation against him and other ministers, he asked, why there is dynastic politics by B S Yeddyurappa, Govind Karjol, C M Udasi, Shashikala Jolle and Umesh Katti in BJP.

Answering a query about other major leaders of Congres not accompanying him in campaigning, he stated that G Parameshwara, D K Shivakumar, Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders are campaigning in different areas, and they campaigned together during the visit of AICC president Rahul Gandhi. , he asked.

"We have requested Priyanka Gandhi to campaign in the State, as per the wish of the party workers," he added.
