Movement of heavy vehicles cause traffic jam on Charmadi Ghat

The movement of heavy vehicles on Charmadi Ghat on NH 234, has been causing inconvenience to the vehicle users.

On Sunday, the traffic was blocked for nearly an hour, following a truck failing to move on the second curve of the Charmadi Ghat. The heavy vehicle that was travelling from Kottigehara was caught in the curve, thus leading to a traffic jam. As a result, the vehicles remained piled up for more than a kilometre on the stretch.

In spite of the Deputy Commissioner’s direction prohibiting the movement of heavy vehicles on Charmadi Ghat stretch, heavy vehicles continue to flout the rules, thus disrupting the movement of vehicles and causing inconvenience to the vehicle users.

Due to the weekend, the density of vehicles on the stretch was also high. Vehicle users have urged the authorities to prohibit the movement of heavy vehicles, including hay-laden lorries on the stretch.
