JOIN USA pair of green anacondas will be the new attraction at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysuru.
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens has added various species to its fleet of rare animals and birds since two months. The new guests of the zoo are two ostrichs, a pair of scarlet Macaw, two pairs of Mandarin duck, a pair of lesser sulphur crested cockatoo, a pair of green winged macaw, a pair of meerkat, a pair of tufted capuchin, a pair of marmoset and a pair of red billed toucan.
Besides, a pair of green anacondas was sent from Sri Lanka National Zoo, by Sri Lankan airlines on April 28. Zoo veterinarian and animal keeper received it at Bengaluru airport and safely transported them to Mysuru.
The reptiles are kept under quarantine. The snakes are four years and eight months and eight feet long. They weigh 15 kg and their condition is stable.
The Zoo had received five green anacondas from the same zoo as gifts five years ago. Now, the Zoo Authority of Karnataka has given permission to receive three pairs of anacondas.
The first pair has reached the zoo and the remaining will be shifted soon, said C Ravishankar, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Zoo.
In return, the zoo will be exporting black bucks and nilgai to Sri Lankan Zoo, soon.
