The contribution of the Sacred Heart Church in Madanthyar to the field of agriculture, health and education have been immense, said Patna Archbishop and a parishioner of Madanthyar Rev Dr William D’Souza.

Addressing a gathering at the 125th year celebrations of the church, he remembered contributions of parish priests, assistant parish priests and parishioners, who served the church in the past.

Speaking at the event, Belthangady Bishop Rev Dr Lawrence Mukkui stressed the need to have faith, love for life developed through family purity and good cultural values in life. He opined that people must not fall prey to bad thoughts or lose confidence or have thoughts regarding suicide. According to him, serving those who are going through hard times or sad is equivalent to serving God.

Bellary Bishop Rev Fr Henry D’Souza and Puttur Bishop Rev Geevarghese Mar Makarios too spoke. Presiding over the programme, Mangalore diocese Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza appreciated and congratulated the church for its work in the area. Parish Priest Rev Fr Basil Vas welcomed the gathering.
