Shashiraj Shetty, others join BJP in Mangaluru

Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe, Congress leader and Buntara yane Nadavara Sangha director, joined BJP with his supporters in Mangaluru on Thursday.

In a programme held at the district BJP office, Shashiraj and about 125 of his supporters joined the party, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Rural Development Minister Dr Mahendra Singh Choudhary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other BJP leaders. The new members were welcomed with party shawls and flags.

Speaking on the occasion, Shashiraj said that he decided to quit Congress and be a part of BJP, as he was frustrated with the nepotism and misuse of power in Congress.

Shashiraj, who is involved in Yettinahole Samyukta Horata Samiti, said that during the anti-Yettinahole protests, the Congress leaders have insulted fighters like Congress leader Vijay Kumar Shetty and others.

Leaders like Harikrishna Bantwal were not treated properly, he said and added that he will work with BJP to strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi and Yeddyurappa.

Congress party Farangipet division President Durgesh Shetty, Rajesh Shetty, Sandesh Gowda, Satish Shetty, Hamid H M and 120 others joined BJP.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the wave of change is very much visible in the district. The anti-democratic rule of Congress in the state will be rooted out soon. “Even members from the minority have decided to support BJP, placing confidence in Modi’s administration,” he said.
