JOIN USLocal MLA Y S V Datta filed his nomination papers as the JD(S) candidate from Kadur on Friday.
He submitted the papers to Election Officer Hanumanarasaiah, after taking an oath.
Datta was accompanied by his spouse Nirmala Datta.
Interestingly, JD(S) member Manjappa of Saraswathipura deposited the amount on the occasion. JD(S) leaders Seegehadlu Harish and B T Gangadhar Naik were present.
Speaking to reporters later, Datta said that he chose to submit his nomination on the pious occasion of Shankara Jayanti.
He will submit the nomination in another set on April 24, when he will be accompanied by party workers and well wishers.
Leaders Yaradakere Rajappa, Kodihalli Maheshwarappa, and Bavimane Madhu were present on the occasion.
C M Rudresh from Anchechomanahalli and Y N Kantaraju from G Yaradakere filed their nomination papers on Friday, as independent candidates.
Five nominations have been submitted so far.
In the affidavit filed along with the nomination papers, Datta has declared that his wife Nirmala and sister have Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 cash in hand respectively.
They have lent up to Rs 6 lakh to various people. His wife and sister possess gold worth Rs 1.40 lakh. His wife and sister own immovable property worth Rs 6.12 lakh and Rs 3.60 lakh respectively. They have liabilities to the tune of Rs 28 lakh and 21 cases pending for disposal.
Datta owns gold worth Rs 1 lakh and 2.5 kg silver. The total worth of his immovable assets is Rs 11,39,791. He has movable property worth Rs 40 lakh, including five acres ancestral land, three sites and an ancestral house.
Datta has availed of Rs 8 lakh loan from Sringeri MLA D N Jivaraj. Datta does not own a vehicle.
