CUET-UG 2026: NTA announces re-test dates for candidates affected by May 30 technical glitch; exams on June 6, 7

NTA will conduct the examinations on June 6 and 7 for 3,765 candidates who were unable to take the test after a technical disruption at multiple centres.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced fresh examination dates for candidates affected by the technical disruption that marred the Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2026 on May 30.

According to the agency, the affected examinations will now be conducted on June 6 and June 7, and revised admit cards have been issued for eligible candidates through the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in.

In a post on social media platform X, the NTA said, "Updated Admit Cards are now available for affected CUET (UG) 2026 candidates. The revised examination dates are 06 and 07 June 2026."

The announcement comes days after a technical glitch disrupted the conduct of the examination at multiple centres across the country, triggering confusion and leaving thousands of candidates unable to complete or even begin their tests.

Why is the re-test being conducted?

The issue occurred during the first shift of CUET-UG on May 30, when a technical problem reportedly delayed the commencement of the computer-based examination at several centres.

The disruption resulted in long delays, with some candidates waiting for over two hours before receiving clarity on whether the examination would proceed. While the NTA later revised examination timings and granted compensatory time to affected candidates, a section of students had already left their examination centres.

Subsequently, the agency announced that 3,765 candidates who had completed biometric registration and were present at their centres but left before the examination resumed would be given a one-time opportunity to reappear. The NTA said the measure was being taken to ensure that no candidate was disadvantaged because of the disruption.

The testing agency had also sought a root-cause analysis report from its technology service provider after the incident. Reports indicated that the disruption stemmed from a technical issue that affected the start of the examination at multiple centres.

Exam disruption triggered criticism

The incident drew criticism from students and parents, many of whom complained about uncertainty at examination centres and a lack of timely communication regarding the status of the examination.

Several candidates reported being made to wait for extended periods as technical teams attempted to restore services. In some centres, students claimed they left after receiving no clear indication about when the examination would begin.

CUET-UG 2026: Exam details

The CUET-UG is the national-level entrance examination used for admissions to undergraduate programmes offered by central universities, state universities, deemed universities and several private institutions.

This year, the examination is being conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across the country. The exam began in May and is scheduled to continue till June 7, with lakhs of candidates appearing for admission to undergraduate programmes across participating universities.

Candidates affected by the May 30 disruption can access their revised admit cards by following these steps:

1. Visit the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in.

2. Click on the CUET-UG 2026 admit card link.

3. Log in using the application number and password.

4. Download and save the updated admit card.

5. Verify the revised examination date, shift and examination centre details.

The NTA has advised candidates to carefully read all instructions mentioned on the admit card before appearing for the re-examination.
