<p>From commemorating birthdays of notable people to lauding achievements in science to applauding big cultural events like the Olympics, Google doodles have celebrated special days across the globe. It has now announced the Doodle 4 Google competition for 2012 with the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’. With this, Google is inviting all children between the ages of 5 to 16 years to share their creativity by doodling on the Google logo. <br /><br />Like every year, the winning doodle will be featured on the Google (India) HomePage on Children’s Day (November 14). The final winner of the competition will be announced at a glittering event in New Delhi on November 6. <br /><br />Announcing this year’s competition, Nikhil Rungta, Country Marketing Head, Google India said, “Doodle 4 Google is a great opportunity for students to explore the intersection of art and technology, while sharing their talents and creativity on a national scale. Through this programme we hope participants will have fun, think creatively and learn something new all at the same time. Last year’s winning Doodle by Varsha Gupta, from Delhi NCR, showcased in vivid detail that India is a land of different cultures, and music is an integral part of it. This year we expect the children of India to showcase to the world how India is united in diversity.”<br /><br />Like every year, the participants will be grouped into three different categories: Group 1 comprising students from Class 1 to 3; Group 2 with students from Class 4 to 6; and Group 3 with students from Class 7 to 10. The first round of entries will go through preliminary judging, post which 12 entries will be announced based on a selection by a panel consisting of independent judges. All chosen entries will be exhibited for public voting, and based on the number of votes, one winner from each group will be selected. The jury along with the original Google Doodler will then choose the final winning doodle from all the finalists.<br /><br /> Participating in the competition is simple: Children studying in class 1-10 can participate in the competition<br /><br />All participants must submit all necessary details along with their doodle mentioned in the form on the website (www.google.co.in/doodle4google). The submission may be either individually or through the school. The school route is valid only if the school is organising to collect and submit the doodles on behalf of their students. <br /><br />The last date for submissions is October, 23 2012.<br /><br />After a series of elimination by celebrity panel of judges, 12 best doodles will be displayed on the gallery (www.google.co.in/doodle4google). These entries will be open for public voting allowing users to vote for their favourite doodle in each category<br />The winning doodle will be uploaded on the Google.co.in homepage on November 14, Children’s Day.
