VITEEE 2026: Application window open until April 12; key details here

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has extended the last date to apply for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026. Candidates can now complete their registration process until April 12, 2026.

The entrance exam is conducted for admission to BTech programmes offered across VIT campuses, and only those who successfully register will be eligible to appear for the exam.

What is VITEEE 

VITEEE is a national-level entrance examination conducted annually for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at VIT campuses, including Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati.

Every year, over two lakh candidates register for the exam, making it one of the most competitive private engineering entrance tests in the country.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Indian nationals, NRIs, OCI/PIO holders are eligible to apply

• Age limit: Candidates should be born on or after July 1, 2004

• Educational qualification:

  • Must have passed or be appearing for Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2026

  • Recognised boards include CBSE, ISC, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, NIOS, etc.

• Minimum marks required:

  • At least 60 per cent aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology

  • Minimum 50 per cent marks in Mathematics or Biology (depending on stream)

• Relaxation: 50 per cent aggregate required for SC/ST candidates and those from J&K, Ladakh, and Northeastern states

Exam dates and format

• Exam dates: April 28 to May 3, 2026

• Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

• Shifts: Conducted in multiple slots across centres

Candidates will be required to book their preferred exam slot closer to the exam date.

Interested candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,350 to complete the application process. This applies to candidates from all categories.

Candidates can follow these steps to complete the application process:

1. Visit the official VITEEE website, viteee.vit.ac.in

2. Register and obtain application number

3. Log in using credentials

4. Fill in personal, academic, and test city details

5. Upload required documents and pay the application fee

6. Submit the form and download a copy for future reference

What next?

Once the application process is completed, VIT will initiate the next stages of the admission process. The mock tests are expected to begin in the first week of April 2026, allowing candidates to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern, difficulty level, interface, and marking scheme.

Following this, candidates will be required to participate in the slot booking process, where they must select their preferred exam date and time. The admit card will be generated only after the successful completion of slot booking.

With the deadline now extended, candidates who missed the earlier window have another opportunity to apply. With less than a month to go for the exam, aspirants are advised to complete their registration at the earliest.
