Congress alleges BJP protecting Yeddy-Reddy Gang

The statement read “India’s biggest Iron-ore mining scam was unearthed on July 27th, 2011 Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde which led to the exposing of the unholy nexus of the Yeddy-Reddy Gang and finally the removal of the then Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on August 2011. No wonder the nicknames of Shri B S Yeddyurappa and the infamous Reddy brothers are ‘jail Birds.’ Picture courtesy Twitter

Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rajeev Gowda and Priyanka Chaturvedi today issued a statement against BJP claiming that Modi government is protecting the Ballari Gang who were involved in the 2011 Rs 35,000-crore iron-ore scam.

The statement read: “India’s biggest Iron-ore mining scam was unearthed on July 27th, 2011. Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde which led to the exposing of the unholy nexus of the Yeddy-Reddy Gang and finally the removal of the then Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on August 2011. No wonder the nicknames of Shri B S Yeddyurappa and the infamous Reddy brothers are ‘jail Birds.’”

It also read “Shockingly Modi government has now become a benefactor, protector, defender of the Bellary Gang, responsible for denuding Kannadigas of their rich natural resource through a Puppet CBI.

Congress senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, in the meeting, said, “Would PM and BJP President explain this sinister conspiracy to put a lid on ‘Loot of Public Money’ & ‘Plundering of Natural Resources’ as also the reason for giving eight BJP tickets to ‘Reddy Brothers & Associates’?”

"Why is Modi Govt protecting scamsters involved in Rs 35,000 Cr ‘Illegal Iron-Ore Mining Scam’ by shutting down CBI cases, one after the other, despite the scathing Lokayukta Report based on comprehensive evidence, both documentary & pictorial?" he also added.

Calling CBI the “Puppet of Modi Government” Surjewala said, “Modi Govt’s CBI wrote to Government of Karnataka justifying the closure of the CBI case, principally on the flimsy ground that ‘iron-ore of Goa and Karnataka having been mixed together cannot be identified’. This is most fanciful & imaginative explanation to close an FIR."

This move came after BJP released the list of its candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election which includes B S Yeddyurappa, B Sriramulu Lok Sabha Member, G Somashekhara Reddy and his elder brother G Karunakara Reddy, and who were biggies in the mining scam.

K C Venugopal, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rajeev Gowda, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Dinesh Gundu Rao and other Congress leaders today launched the party’s campaign slogan and logo “Karnataka’s Proud Congress again” at the meeting for the upcoming Assembly elections.
