Mumbai: Amid the complexities of ruling Maha Yuti’s seat-sharing arrangements and direct and indirect criticism from BJP and Shiv Sena, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP President Ajit Pawar met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The meeting comes days after Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who calls the shots for the BJP, said that the transfer of votes from Ajit Pawar’s NCP was less than that of Shiv Sena which is led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
“The transfer of votes was more from Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena than Ajit Pawar's NCP. These parties were new and were formed after they broke away. It took time for them to settle and identify their voter base,” said Fadnavis, a former two-time Chief Minister and ex-Leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly, while appearing in a conclave last week.
The RSS have reservations about Ajit Pawar after the debacle in the Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra.
Leaders of the Shiv Sena, Shinde, have also been critical of the NCP and several leaders and ministers have come out with strong remarks against Ajit Pawar.
Around a month ago, state’s Health Minister Prof Tanaji Sawant of Shiv Sena had said: “"I have never got along with the NCP all my life, we sit next to each other, but when we come out, we vomit.”
