'Kalaingar wouldn’t have...': Ram Gopal Varma shares old photo of Vijay with Karunanidhi after TN Election results

Tamil Nadu witnessed a tectonic shift in the state politics with the assembly elections 2026 results, yesterday.

Actor turned politician has delivered a blockbuster in his political debut with his party TVK emerging as the single largest party in the recently concluded elections.

Vijay's TVK has secured 108 seats, falling short by 10 of the majority in the assembly of 234 MLAs. DMK and its allies have won on 73 seats and ADMK and it allies have secured victory on 53 seats.

After the results, many celebs and known figures have shared their views on the results and film maker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his string views, shared an old photo of Vijay with former CM and DMK founder Karunanidhi.

In the photo, a very young Vijay can be seen standing behind Karunanidhi and it seems former CM was about to cut the ribbon during an inauguration ceremony.

The filmmaker wrote, "Kalaingar wouldn’t have dreamed that the kid behind him would one day destroy his party."

It's true that Vijay has surprised everyone by these results, but DMK will still be the main opposition party in the new assembly with almost 59 seats in its kitty. So, 'destroy' might be a bit of over statement here, but Vijay should be given credit for what he has achieved in his first election.
