Rahul Gandhi to Jana Nayagan producer: Who attended Vijay's oath taking ceremony?

Several prominent political leaders and public figures are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium.

Following major political developments in Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister on Saturday. Pledging to govern with honesty and transparency, Vijay’s party secured 108 seats in the 2026 Assembly elections and crossed the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly with the backing of alliance partners.

Several prominent political leaders and public figures, including Vijay’s co-stars, family members, producers and longtime collaborators, attended the swearing-in ceremony at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium.

SA Chandrasekhar and Shoba

Vijay’s parents, filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar and singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, were present at the oath-taking ceremony as Vijay assumed office in his new role.

Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony, signalling support for the new government.

Trisha Krishnan

Actor Trisha Krishnan was among those present at the event. She arrived wearing a blue saree.

Venkat K Narayana

Producer Venkat K Narayana also attended the ceremony. He is backing Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, which is yet to release in theatres.

Vivek

Lyricist Vivek was present at the event as well. He has penned several of Vijay’s introductory songs over the past decade.

Actor Jai

Actor Jai, who shared screen space with Vijay in Puthiya Geethai, was among the film personalities spotted at the stadium.

Actor Sangeetha

Actor Sangeetha attended the ceremony along with her husband, singer Krish, and their daughter. She previously acted alongside Vijay in Varisu (2023).

Archana Kalpathi

Producer Archana Kalpathi was also present at the swearing-in ceremony. She is associated with AGS Productions and produced GOAT (2024).

Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty, BJP leader and former Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan were also among those who attended the ceremony.

Leaders of VCK, CPI, CPI (M), and IUML also attended.

According to reports, more than 5,000 guests, including newly elected legislators, party workers and supporters, were invited to the event.

Former CM and DMK President M K Stalin and AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, Vijay's wife Sangeetha and two children did not attend the swearing-in ceremony.
