Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank fans for wishing him on his 42nd birthday. He said that their love and support mean a lot.
The actor began his career with a key role in the Vikram Bhatt-directed Footpath impressing critics with his performance. He subsequently received praise for his work in Murder, Aksar and Aashiq Banaya Aapne and carved a niche for himself. Most of these films feature intimate scenes and liplocks, which resulted in him being dubbed as the 'Serial Kisser'. He acted opposite Kangana Ranaut in her first Bollywood film Gangster, a commercial success. His scenes with the future 'Queen' of Bollywood made an impact due to the chemistry between the two.
The star's career soon hit a roadblock as films such as Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar and Mr X did not do well at the box office. His eagerly-awaited film Hamari Adhuri Kahaani too failed to live up to the expectations. He tried reviving his career with Azhar, a film based on the life of controversial cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, but things didn't go as planned as the biopic wasn't able to impress fans. Emraan made his web debut with the web series Bard of Blood, which proved to be a letdown.
He was last seen in the recently-released gangster drama Mumbai Saga, which marked his first collaboration with director Sanjay Gupta. The film opened to a good response at the box office on March 19 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Emraan is gearing up for the release of Chehre, slated to hit the screens on April 9. The thriller has piqued the curiosity of fans as it marks his first collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan. He is also working on the Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie Ezra. It remains to be seen whether these movies help him consolidate his standing in the industry.
