Amidst 'non-Kannadiga' row, Tamannaah Bhatia joins KSDL as Brand Ambassador

Amid criticism, actress Tamannaah Bhatia took on the role of KSDL brand ambassador at a gala event held in Bengaluru. At the launch event, Tamannaah also unveiled 57 products of the organisation, including Mysore Sandal Soap, which has now been introduced in refreshed and contemporary packaging.

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia officially stepped into her new role as the face of the state-run Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL).

The gala launch event in Bengaluru saw a big gathering of state leadership as Minister MB Patil and KSDL Chairman CS Nadagouda personally welcomed Tamannaah Bhatia.

The board members also joined in to mark the beginning of Tamannaah Bhatia's association with the heritage brand.

Since she was appointed KSDL’s brand ambassador last year, Tamannaah Bhatia’s role has been criticised by the people of Karnataka, as they argued that an iconic state institution should be represented by a local Kannada-speaking star.

The event served as a major showcase for KSDL, with Tamannaah unveiling a lineup of 57 products.

Most notably, the classic Mysore Sandal Soap was reintroduced with a refreshed, modern look, blending its historic legacy with a brand-new packaging design.

Speaking at the event, Tamannaah Bhatia said, "It is the new chapter of my life as an artist, and I am so excited that in this new phase where I take on new roles, new challenges and new responsibilities, I get to be the face of Mysore Sandal Soap."

Additionally, two coffee table books chronicling the organisation's rich legacy--Sugandha Siri and Aromatic Journeys--were also unveiled.
