There's no denying the fact that Mohanlal is one of the biggest and most respected names in Malayalam cinema. The veteran enjoys an impressive fan following due to sincere performances and bindass nature. While almost everyone knows about his contribution to Mollywood, not many are aware that he featured in a Holi song during his brief stint in Bollywood

'Lalettan', who began his B-town innings with Company, acted in the 2007 release Aag--a remake of the yesteryear classic Sholay-- and tried to add a new dimension to his career. Things, however, did not go as planned as the movie ended up being a colossal flop. The flick, however, garnered attention due to the fun-filled Holi song, which celebrated the essence of the 'Festival of Colours'. Mohanlal's lively mannerisms were a highlight of the video.

The Ram Gopal Varma-directed Aag was an actioner that revolved around the clash between a cop, played by the Lucifer star, and a notorious gangster, essayed by Amitabh Bachchan. The cast included Ajay Devgn, Prashanth Raj, Nisha Kothar, Abhishek Bachchan and Sushmita Sen.

Coming to the present, Mohanlal is going through a busy phase on the work front and was last seen in the Malayalam movie Drishyam 2. The thriller received rave reviews for its presentation and engaging climax. A section of the audience, however, felt that the first hour was not as good as expected.

Mohanlal will soon be seen in the National award-winning film Marakkar, which features him in the role of a Naval Admiral. The period drama has a stellar cast that includes Arjun Sarja, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Pranav Mohanlal, Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and Manju Warrier.

It is slated to release in theatres in multiple languages in August.

The 'Complete Actor' also has the action-comedy Aaraattu , co-starring Shraddha Srinath, and the Prithviraj-directed actioner L2 in his kitty. He recently started work on Barroz, his maiden film as director. There has been talk of him teaming up with Jr NTR for a Telugu movie but this is yet to be confirmed.
