Tollywood star Mahesh Babu has reportedly been offered the role of Lord Ram in the pan-India movie Ramayana 3D, an adaptation of the epic of the same name. The film, backed by Madhu Mantena, is expected to feature Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as the antagonist Ravan and will mark his first collaboration with 'Prince'. Reports also state that Deepika Padukone is the frontrunner to play Sita in the magnum opus

The proposed project might prove to be a game-changer for Indian cinema if things go as planned.

This report comes at a time when actor Prabhas is gearing up to play Lord Ram in the Bhushan Kumar-produced Adipurush. The Hindi-Telugu bilingual is being directed by Om Raut, who had previously wielded the microphone for the popular film Tanhaji. The biggie, which is expected to celebrate the 'victory of good over evil', stars Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Lankesh and will mark his Tollywood debut. The buzz is that Kriti Sanon is being considered for the role of Sita.

It remains to be seen whether Ramayana 3D has an impact on the prospects of Adipurush in the long run.

Mahesh Babu, meanwhile, is going through a terrific phase on the work front. The mass hero was last seen in the action-packed movie Sarileru Neekevvaru, which did well at the box office despite facing competition from Trivikram Srinivas' Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.

He will next be seen in the Parasuram-helmed Sarkaru Vaari Paata, slated to hit the screens in 2022. He will also be teaming up with ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli for a high-profile movie after the Eega helmer wraps up his upcoming movie Rise Roar Revolt (RRR), which features Jr NTR and 'Mega Power Star' Ram Charan as the parallel leads.

Hrithik, on the other hand, will soon be turning his attention to the upcoming film Fighter that has him paired opposite Deepika. It is likely to be his first major release since War, which hit the screens in 2019.
