Mohanlal, Mammootty to come together for a multi-starrer

Mollywood stars Mammootty and Mohanlal are set to collaborate for a multi-starrer to be produced by Aashirvaad Cinemas for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The magnum opus, which is touted to be a stylish thriller, will be helmed by ace filmmakers Priyadarshan and TK Rajeev Kumar. Nearly 140 artists associated with Malayalam cinema are likely to be a part of the project.

The film may help the industry regain its mojo after the Covid-19 lockdown, The biggest names in Malayalam cinema had previously come together for the high-profile movie Twenty-20,which garnered a fair deal of attention. It remains to be seen whether the yet-to-be-titled thriller too makes the desired impact.

Mohanlal , meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Drishyam 2. The film, a sequel to the 2013 hit Drishyam. revolves around the journey of a cable TV operator-turned film producer. It is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 19. 'Lalettan' will be trying to 'save the theatres' with his much-hyped movie Marakkar that is slated to hit the screens next month. The period-drama has a star-studded cast that includes Suniel Shetty, 'Action King' Arjun Sarja, Manju Warrier, Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan.

It was expected to be released last year but that did not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

His upcoming movie Aaraattu has also garnered attention as it features him in a new avatar. The film stars Shraddha Srinath as the leading lady and marks her return to Mollywood.

There have also been talks of 'Lalettan' essaying a role in Jr NTR's movie with Tollywood director Trivikram Srinivas.

Mammootty, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of the horror-thriller The Priest. The biggie has piqued the curiosity of the fans as it will mark his first collaboration with Manju. It is slated to hit the screens on March 4.
