A film on the Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case titled Delhi Bus is all set to be released on December 28.

Filmmaker Tariq Khan has joined hands with director Sharique Minhaj for the Hindi feature film.

The film is being released as a tribute on the sixth anniversary of the rape and assault case of Nirbhaya.

The film is presented by Vipul Shah and has Haryana-based Divya Singh in the title role and also features Aanjjan Srivastav, Neelima Azeem and Sanjay Singh.

Divya was earlier seen anchoring TV shows.

Dr S K Das, the creative director of the film who has also partnered to write the screenplay and dialogues, is also playing a role of a police officer.

Incidentally, Das works as a S D M in the revenue department of Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

He has earlier made two short films.

“This film is not made for commercial gains. I have joined hands to spread awareness and how such heinous acts of violence can be avoided and stopped and also to understand the pain and trauma of the victims," Shah said.

Minhaj is known for making films on fiery and controversial subjects.

Earlier, he had made a film on Gujarat’s Godhra case titled Chand Bhuj Gaya.

Inspired by the mafia in Gujarat, he went on to make Latif – The King of Crime.

Of late he has directed a film Chinaar-Dastaan E Ishq with Kashmir in the backdrop.

"The incident of Nirbhaya case has shocked the entire nation and was widely condemned. I was shaken by this incident too," Minhaj said.

"I took my screenplay and dialogue writer Amit Gupta and S K Das to study the entire charge sheet and make a film on it. We have taken a bit of liberty and have added some other scenes too, so that it didn’t turn out to be a documentary film," he said.
