<p>New Delhi: Filming has begun on "Dada", the upcoming biographical movie on Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, with filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane assuming the director's chair, the makers announced on Wednesday.</p><p>Actor Rajkummar Rao will portray Ganguly in the movie, which is produced by filmmaker Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg of Luv Films.</p><p>The production banner shared a photo of clapperboard on Instagram to announce that the movie has started filming.</p><p>"Lights, Camera, Cricket! 'Dada' Filming Begins Now," wrote Luv Films.</p>.Sourav Ganguly backs India's 'high-risk' batting template.<p>Motwane, known for critical hits such as "Udaan", "Lootera", "Trapped" and series "Jubilee" and "Black Warrant", also shared the news on his Instagram page and posted a photo of the Sourav Ganguly stand from Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.</p><p>"Take your seats," he captioned the image.</p><p>Rao wrote, "And it begins … The one and only #DADA." The makers are yet to share the official plotline of the film.</p>.<p>Ganguly, who played for the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2008, scored 18,575 runs in Test and ODIs, and has 38 centuries to his credit.</p><p>In an interview with PTI in July 2025, Ganguly says Rao is the right choice to portray him in the film.</p><p>"I think the right person is doing it... I'll help him with everything," said the former player, who is counted among India's most successful captains. </p>
