As the poster for Parineeti Chopra-starrer Saina, a biopic on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal, received flak from the netizens over missing out on the 'service', the movie's director finally makes his case justifying the move.

Titled Saina, the film has been directed by Amole Gupte, who has helmed acclaimed movies such as Stanley Ka Dabba and Hawa Hawaai and is produced by T-Series, headed by Bhushan Kumar.

"Presenting the inspiring story of one of India's greatest athletes, #Saina. In cinemas on 26th March," the tweet on T-Series official Twitter page read.

Reacting to the claims, Gupte said on Facebook, "Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster... “looks like a tennis serve... Saina doing a Sania” etc etc...
If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!!!"

"High Concept Poster by Rahul Nanda has to be unfortunately explained in detail to a quick reacting, impatient world... not stopping to think before rubbishing anything!!! Socho!!!" the director further added in his post.

Parineeti Chopra, whose The Girl on The Train released last week on Netflix, shot for Saina in 2019.

Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik has also scored for the film. "I've spent the last three years working on the music for Saina. This is the first time I'm doing the background score of a film too, apart from the songs. The entire team, director Amole Gupte sir, Parineeti Chopra and everyone else has been very supportive," he said.
