<p>The actress and her husband, who is a bank employee in Kuwait, turned up at the family court in Ernakulam and informed the court that they wanted to separate. <br />The couple were married in December 2008 following which Kavya left for Kuwait with her husband in February 2009.<br /><br />However, she returned home in June that year and did not go back thereafter. Accusations of physical and mental harassment and counter allegations by Nishal’s family were rife for sometime. <br /><br />The divorce was mediated by friends on both sides after the actress filed a dowry harassment complaint against Nishal and his family members recently. Subsequently, Nishal moved the high court praying that the FIR be quashed since conciliatory moves were on. <br /><br />Though the court rejected the request, it asked the police not to arrest Nishal for a week to allow out-of-court settlement. Kavya will withdraw the two complaints filed against Nishal and his family as part of the settlement.</p>
