Aspiring actress Anusha Chawla (Mahie Gill) convinces beau Robin Fernandes (Deepak Dobriyal) to allow her to achieve her dream of becoming a star. She lands in Mumbai only to learn that to become an actress she has to get into a “comfort zone” with film makers. Anusha finally gets a role in a film, thanks to crew member Ashish Bhatnagar (Ajay Gehi).

All’s well till Robin comes knocking on Anusha’s door only to find his lady love in a compromising position with Ashish. In a fit of rage, Robin kills Ashish, chops his body into pieces. Come interval, Robin and Anusha are ready with half-a-dozen plastic bags to dispose of Ashish’s body.

Based on the infamous Neeraj Grover murder case, Ram Gopal Varma’s latest movie Not A Love Story is more or less a dramatised reconstruction of the entire episode. To make a movie on a true story is a painstaking task, but to some extent RGV succeeds in putting forth his point. But weird camera angles, slow pace of the story and a horror-film-like background music make it a tiresome watch.

The first half of the movie is all about Anusha’s friends consoling her on being rejected and her boyfriend asking her to come back. In the second half, RGV takes you to the courtroom and the police station with police officer Mane (Zakir Hussain) cracking the case with ease.

Performance-wise no one stands tall in the over 120-minute run. Mahie Gill doesn’t fit the bill, who keeps locking lips with her boyfriend even while weeping and on the court premises. Deepak Dobriyal wears the same expression throughout the film even while making love. Strictly for a crime serial lover or an RGV fan.
