Sai Pallavi says she said yes to 'Ek Din' because it felt similar to 'Before Sunrise', reveals she later felt 'miscast'

Sai Pallavi, during a candid conversation with her co-star Junaid, revealed that the script of 'Ek Din' reminded her of the 1995 Hollywood film 'Before Sunrise', which stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

Sai Pallavi, who has made her Bollywood film debut with Ek Din starring Junaid Khan, has opened up on why she said yes to the film.

In a video posted on Aamir Khan Talkies YouTube channel, Sai Pallavi, during a candid conversation with her co-star Junaid, revealed that the script reminded her of the 1995 Hollywood film Before Sunrise, which stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

During the conversation, when Junaid asked Sai about her decision to do Ek Din, he mentioned he was sure Sai wouldn't do the film as she was a part of big films across languages.

To this, Sai replied, "It is not about the scale of a film that drives me. At that point of time in my life, I had done a lot of films which were heavy and I wanted to do something that was light… that did not have me carry a lot of trauma through the making and even after. So when the script came along, I thought this is going to be in the zone of Before Sunrise. Because I like Before Sunrise and I thought this is going to be like that."

During the same conversation, Sai also revealed that initially she felt a 'miscast'. She tells Junaid that during the premiere of the film, she told Aamir Khan, "I don't think I was meant to do this and I think I am miscast. I feel so, I think it should have been a new person who had little bit of a flamboyance."

However, Junaid immediately chimed in and said that she was meant to do this role.

Ek Din was released on May 1 in theatres and has seen a disappointing box office performance since then.

The film stars as Junaid as Dinesh "Dino" Shrivastava, a shy and introverted IT worker, and Sai Pallavi as Meera Ranganathan, the woman he secretly loves.

The romantic drama is a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day, which follows a young man who falls in love with his colleague but is not able to confess his feelings to her.
