'Security reasons': Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan skip Asha Bhosle's funeral

Several reports suggest that the superstars chose to skip the last rites of the legendary singer due to "security reasons".

The last rites of the legendary singer Asha Bhosle were performed on April 13 at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. While the whole film fraternity came together to bid their final goodbyes to the music maestro, the absence of two big names was loud.

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan chose not to attend the cremation ceremony of the iconic singer while both the superstars were in Mumbai at the time. And their absence is now reportedly being attributed to "security reasons" and "crowd management".

Among the Khan's trio, only Aamir Khan was present at the funeral.

However, no official statement has been made by either Shah Rukh or Salman on their absence.

While the superstars chose to skip the funeral, they did paid a tribute to Asha Bhosle in their posts on social media.

Salman took to X and expressed his grief. Calling the death of Asha Bhosle a huge loss for the industry, Salman wrote, "A huge loss for Indian music…. Heartbroken to hear about Asha ji."

"An irreplaceable voice, Your songs will continue to inspire generations," he added.

Shah Rukh, on the other hand, in a heavy-hearted post on X, wrote, "It’s truly sad to learn about Asha Tai’s passing… her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come."

"A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love and i will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai… love you," Shah Rukh added.

Asha Bhosle took her last breath on April 12. The veteran singer was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, where she was undergoing treatment for chest infection and extreme exhaustion. She reportedly died due to multi-organ failure.
