'Sometimes security guards act oversmart': Journalist Sohel Fidai reacts after video of his heated altercation with Govinda's bodyguard goes viral

Govinda is indeed the Hero No. 1, at least for his friends and fans.

The actor has been earning praise for his calm and sweet gesture in a moment of chaos.

Govinda recently attended the grand finale of Mrs India Queen Pehchan Meri Season 4 in Mumbai as the chief guest. As the actor was leaving the event, he was mobbed by fans and paparazzi. And what unfolded was pure chaos.

In a video going viral on social media, Govinda's security guard is seen getting into a heated exchanged with journalist Sohel Fidai.

Now, Sohel Fidai has shared his two cents on the incident.

"Govinda and I have been friends for decades. I was holding Govinda's hands when his security guard started pushing me. Previously, the security guard had also pushed my camera man and didn't let him record. This made me angry, and I called out the behaviour and asked ' why did you touch me'. That's what you will hear me saying in the video too," Fidai exclusively told DH Online.

Calling the actions unnecessary, Fidai says that security guards should know the difference between fans and the media.

"They should not weigh the fans and media on the same scale. Sometimes security crosses their bosses and act oversmart. It's not required. When an actor is telling you to stop, as Govinda did in my situation, they should stop. An actor knows best when he has to stop and talk and when to ignore and leave," Fidai says.

However, Govinda, as also seen in the video, soon came to Fidai's rescue as he stopped the guard and prevented the situation from escalating.

"Govinda is a sweet person. He even gave me interview after coming out of the event," Fidai says.

However, Fidai doesn't completely put the blame on security, as he says, he understands their situation.

"I understand that in moments of chaos certain things happen. I don't completely blame them. But still one needs to be careful with their actions," he says.

Unfortunately, this is not a one-off instance for Fidai.

"Incidents like this have happened with me in the past. Once a similar thing happened with Katrina Kaif where her bodyguard had pushed me. But Katrina soon took stand and stopped it. This is a part and parcel of being in the media industry," Fidai recalls.

He adds that he wasn't aware that somebody has shot the video and it was only after it went viral that he realised it.

"I didn't know somebody shot the video. It's wrong to shoot such moments. Also, this is a wake up for all of us to be more aware of our surroundings because anyone, anywhere can record you without your knowledge," Fidai says.
