As Tamil Nadu gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections, a political drama, TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram, by filmmaker Umapathi Ramaiah, promises to entertain the audience.

Scheduled for release on April 10, 2026, the film appears to be a spoof of actor-turned politician Thalapathy Vijay.

The film's teaser, which was released on Thursday (April 2) has already attracted significant attention from the audience and industry insiders. Produced by Kannan Ravi Group, the film takes on a satirical approach, seemingly parodying Thalapathy Vijay’s political entry.

The teaser showcases a story where a film superstar with a massive fan following ventures into politics, dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister. The character played by Natty Natraj closely mirrors Vijay’s mannerisms, from his walk and dressing to his recognisable beard and has taken everyone by surprise.

The teaser has sparked significant buzz and is raising curiosity surrounding the film. Ever since its release, the teaser has been going viral on social media and has attracted several reactions from netizens.

Meanwhile, the project's timing has drawn severe criticism, with many arguing that releasing a politically themed movie during the election season could unfairly influence voters.

In response, numerous netizens have tagged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on social media, demanding a stay on the release to maintain a level playing field during the election cycle.

“The teaser leaves little room for doubt that the film is a parody of Thalapathy Vijay,” said an industry insider.

The protagonist’s attire and grooming, mirroring the actor's signature look makes it obvious.

Notably, the film is financed by Dubai-based businessman Kannan Ravi, whose cordial relations with Tamil Nadu’s ruling party have led many to view this release as a strategic ‘attack' designed for the election season.
