After getting stuck in a long limbo, it seems Vijay's Jana Nayagan is finally ready to see the light of the day.

While the makers haven't announced an official release date yet, ticket booking platforms District by Zomato and Book My Show have teased a June release date.

District cites the release date as June 19, while Book My Show only mentions, "Releasing in Jun, 2026".

While ticket booking platforms have already teased a possible release date, Vijay's farewell film is still fighting for CBFC certification.

As per reports, Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions confirmed on Friday that Vijay's final film has yet to receive its CBFC certification. The delay in certification comes after more than five months of it's supposed release date.

However, if the listed release date turns out to be true and final, it will be a week full of double treat for the fans as Vijay will also be celebrating his 52nd birthday on June 22.

Jana Nayagan marks the final film of Vijay as he bids adieu to his film career and embark on his political journey.

Earlier this month, Vijay scripted history by winning the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.

Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam brought a political whirlwind in Tamil Nadu by emerging as the single-largest party in its debut 2026 Assembly election, breaking the decades-long duopoly of the DMK and AIADMK.

Vijay's iconic win and now a potential June release of his much-awaited film call for dual celebrations for his fans and supporters.

Roadblocks for Jana Nayagan

While Vijay was busy preparing for his historic political debut, his last film was getting stuck in a cycle of delays.

Censor certification hurdles and legal battles added to the politically charged film's woes.

On top of it, on April 9, a high-definition print of the film was also allegedly leaked online. However, owing to an immediate and urgent action by the makers, the Madras High Court ordered an immediate ban and blocking of all links circulating the film.

What's next for Vijay?

C Joseph Vijay sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026 after days of political uncertainty.

Vijay is now reportedly set to arrive in New Delhi as the head of the TN government. His visit is expected to carry both political and administrative importance.
