Farhan to campaign for Delhi Police

Last Updated 15 January 2012, 18:57 IST

Actor-film-maker Farhan Akhtar would be seen popularising the campaign of Delhi police to tackle crime against women this week.

Akhtar is the second celebrity after Sehwag who would be campaigning any initiative of Delhi police.

Sehwag had appeared in advertisements late December urging people to follow traffic rules. “Celebrities are being roped in to popularise our initiatives. We are also trying to rope in more such personalities," a senior police official said.

Thirty eight-year-old Akhtar, whose recent release as a director was Don 2, will be exhorting Delhiites not to sit back and allow violence against women. “Make Delhi safer for Delhi. Are you man enough to join me? Don't sit back and allow violence against women. Fight it. Report it. Call Women's Helpline 1091,” Akhtar says in the advertisement.

The police have welcomed Farhan’s involvement.
