Last Updated 28 July 2018, 09:59 IST

Health and Family Welfare department has issued a notification to fee regulatory committee recently asking it to regulate the fees for the 15 additional Ayush Colleges in the state. The new list includes 11 Ayurveda, three Nature Cure and Yoga and one Unani College.

Recently, the fee regulatory committee had recommended 8% fee hike for 312 institutions out of 394 in the state, irrespective of their streams. However, 82 institutions were declared non-eligible for
the new fee structure and
they were directed to continue with the previous year’s fee pattern.

“We received the notification from the Department of Health and Family Welfare recently with the new list of Ayush colleges for which fee has to be regulated. We will be sending notifications to all the 15 colleges and ask them to attend the proceedings. The system adopted during the previous hearing will be followed in this case also,” Shylendra Kumar, the chairman of the regulatory committee told DH.

He said that the fee revision will be recommended based on the accounts submitted by the colleges. The proceedings are likely to be held in the first week of August.

The managements of three colleges offering Unani and two colleges offering Nature Cure and Yoga were eligible
for the 8% fee hike from this year.

Out of 55 Ayurvedic colleges, which had attended the proceedings of fee regulatory committee, 42 disclosed their accounts.

Repeated attempts to contact the principal secretary to Health and Family Welfare department went in vain.
