JOIN USA delegation of Akhila Bharatha Meenugarara Vedike met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night and urged him to initiate special measures to trace the missing fishing boat Suvarna Tribhuja and the seven fishermen.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum seeking separate ministry for the fisheries sector and sought a concession on cess on diesel supplied to fishermen.
The fishermen demanded additional kerosene for traditional fishermen, pension for above 60year old fishermen, concession in GST in the fisheries sector and special package for fishermen community.
Vedike president Velzibai Masani, Malpe Fishermen Association president Sathish Kunder, Fisheries Cooperative Marketing Federation president Yashpal Suvarna and others were present.
