<p class="title">In a shocking incident in Chittoor, the native district of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, five minors have been detained by the police for sexually exploiting a 12-year-old girl for three months.</p>.<p class="bodytext">They had threatened the girl that they would kill her if she informed her parents.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The boys, all aged 16-17 years, were produced before the court and subsequently shifted to a juvenile home after judicial remand.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The girl was sent for medical examination.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to Punganur police inspector P Sainath, one of the boys first raped her by luring her with chocolates.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He then introduced her to his friends, who continued exploiting her.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The girl is from a poor family in Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punganur town. Her father is dead and mother is a labourer.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Among the boys, two are class VII students, one is in Class X, one is in intermediate, while one is illiterate.</p>.<p class="bodytext">They all live in the girl's neighborhood and their parents are labourers, too.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Unable to bear the harassment by the boys anymore, the girl on Wednesday opened up before her mother.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She sought the help of locals in catching them. The villagers caught hold of the two boys and thrashed them in public before handing them over to the police.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"We have booked cases under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code, besides relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," the inspector said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Just a week ago, Chandrababu had announced that rapists would get the death penalty on the same day they commit the offence. He had launched a mass campaign to instill a sense of security and support.</p>
