<p>Over 6,000 dancers from 18 countries performed Kuchipudi dance and set a new Guinness record in Vijayawada on Sunday at the fifth edition of the International Kuchipudi Dance Convention.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Representative of Guinness Book of World Records Rishinath recognised the record.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Silicon Andhra founder Kuchbhotla Anand were present.<br /><br />Earlier, Naidu said the government has allocated Rs 100 cr for the development of the art form and the village Kuchipudi. “I want every family in the state to have a computer and a person who knows Kuchipudi dance,” the chief minister said.<br /><br />He said that all government schools will have Kuchipudi dance teachers soon. In December 2012, Silicon Andhra and the then combined Andhra Pradesh state had jointly organised a similar event in which 5,974 Kuchipudi dancers performed ‘Mahabrinda Natyam’.<br /><br />The event also found its way into the Guinness Book of World Records.Kuchipudi, the 600-year-old dance form, originated in Krishna district of the state.</p>
