<p>Airports across the country have billed airlines and owners of private aircraft Rs 35.34 crore for parking flights since April with officials saying that the figure this fiscal is likely to surpass the amount collected in the past three fiscals.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Delhi airport, which has the highest number of parking lots (193), has topped the list by issuing a parking bill of Rs 20.58 crore followed by Mumbai with 93 lots at Rs 7.72 crore.<br /><br />The figures also showed that parking fees to flights owned by private parties had grown around three times from 2010-11, according to figures provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. An analysis showed that the parking fees in airports have doubled from Rs 42.96 crore in 2010-11 to Rs 85.11 crore in 2012-13. In 2011-12, the airports had billed Rs 42.88 crore as parking charges.<br /><br />Of the Rs 35.34 crore billed for the first four months of the current fiscal, Rs 20.22 crore was for owners of private aircraft. Delhi airport has billed the highest amount of Rs 16.41 crore for parking private aircraft. The current parking charges for aircraft in Delhi and Mumbai airports approved by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority are Rs 14.15 and Rs 14.56 for one metric tonne per hour up to 100 metric tonne respectively. For aircraft above 100 metric tonnes, the charges applicable in Delhi airport is Rs 1,415 plus Rs 18.74 per tonne per hour and for Mumbai it is Rs 1,426 plus Rs 18.88 per tonne per hour.<br /><br />The parking bill for Delhi airport in the last fiscal was Rs 57.83 crore, a three-fold rise from 2011-12’s Rs 19.58 crore and 2010-11’s Rs 17.48 crore.<br /><br />However, the rise in Mumbai airport was not big.
