<p>After nearly 40 days of interrogation, a special NIA court in Mumbai on Friday sent suspended assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze to judicial custody till April 23.</p>.<p>The NIA had arrested Vaze on March 13, in connection with the planting of Scorpio laden with gelatin sticks and a threatening letter near Antilia, the residence of Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani.</p>.<p>On March 24, a special court in Thane ordered the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to hand over the case of the murder of SUV owner Mansukh Hiren to the NIA – as the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the federal agency to take over the case.</p>.<p><strong>Also read —<a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/national/west/cbi-quizzes-vaze-for-3rd-day-on-deshmukh-corruption-allegations-972320.html" target="_blank"> CBI quizzes Vaze for 3rd day on Deshmukh corruption allegations</a></strong></p>.<p>During the hearing, special NIA judge PR Sitre sent Vaze to judicial custody after the central agency did not press for custodial interrogation.</p>.<p>Earlier this week, two other accused in the case – Vinayak Shinde, a dismissed police constable and Naresh Gor, a cricket bookie, were sent to judicial remand.</p>.<p>During the course of investigations, the NIA took Vaze to multiple locations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and seized 8 high-end cars and SUVs and a bike. It also recovered the electronic gadgets that he had dumped in the Mithi river. </p>
