Andhra CM Naidu orders 50% cut in convoy vehicles following PM Modi's appeal

Hyderabad: In a significant move aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for wise fuel usage and responsible expenditure, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a 50 per cent reduction in the number of vehicles used in his convoy during district tours.

The Chief Minister took this decision as part of the broader savings measures announced by the Prime Minister in the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its potential impact on global fuel prices and fiscal pressures.

During a review meeting with the Director General of Police (DGP) and senior Intelligence officials, the Chief Minister on Wednesday evening directed that the number of vehicles accompanying him during district visits be reduced by half with immediate effect.

The Chief Minister also instructed Ministers, public representatives, and other VIPs to minimise the use of official vehicles and adopt similar restraint in line with the spirit of the Prime Minister’s appeal.

He directed officials to ensure that the 50 percent reduction in vehicle usage is implemented at all levels and stressed that every decision should reflect the larger national interest.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is examining several additional measures to promote fuel conservation and expenditure discipline.

These proposals will be discussed in detail at the State Cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday, following which further policy decisions will be announced.
