<p>Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday relaunched the ambitious Amaravati capital city project led by Andhra Pradesh's TDP-led NDA government. </p><p>After a nearly six-year pause, works of Amaravati will now resume.</p><p>When the YSRCP came to power in 2019, development of Amaravati had halted. Now, PM Modi has laid the foundation for 74 projects worth Rs 49,000 crore, including the construction of the Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, and residential quarters for the judiciary.</p><p>The 'Amaravati Restart' programme generated high expectations, drawing lakhs of participants drawn from various parts of the state to the relaunch ceremony. </p><p>Notably, this marks the second time Modi laid a foundation for Amaravati, with the first occasion being in 2015. These are not just concrete structures — they are a strong foundation for the aspirations of Andhra Pradesh and the vision of a Developed India," said PM Modi while flanked by chief minister N Chandrababu Nadu and deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan.</p><p>"Amaravati is not just a city — it is the force that will transform Andhra Pradesh into a modern and progressive state. Amaravati is on the path to becoming the city where the dreams of every Andhraite come true. In the days to come, Amaravati will emerge as a leading city in the country in the fields of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Green Energy, Clean Industries, Education, and Healthcare,” he added</p><p>The Union government has already facilitated a Rs 15,000 crore loan from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank for building Amaravati. The state government has received additional assurance from HUDCO and German development bank KfW for another Rs 15,000 crore loan. The Naidu government is also exploring several other resources to mobilize funds for Amaravati.</p><p>In 2016-17, the Andhra Pradesh administration relocated from the joint capital of Hyderabad to the temporary secretariat in Velagapudi. Around 2,500 employees working there currently lack government housing and reside in nearby cities of Vijayawada, Guntur, and Mangalagiri. To address this issue, the previous TDP government had initiated construction of multi-storied residential complexes in the capital for officials and employees.</p><p>Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) began constructing multi-storied apartments with international standards and comprehensive amenities for All India Service officers, MLAs, MLCs, gazetted officers, non-gazetted officers (NGOs), and fourth-class employees. Construction of 12 towers with 288 flats was initiated for MLAs and MLCs, and six towers for All India Service officers. After the YSRCP government came to power in 2019, these works were halted. Currently, the residential complexes for public representatives, officials, and employees are 66-80% complete, while the construction of bungalows for ministers and chief secretaries is only 27-28% complete.</p>.Amaravati to be world's first fully renewable-powered city.<p>Naidu said Amaravati is not just a city — it is the emotional and aspirational identity of 5 crore people of Andhra Pradesh.</p><p>“Amaravati will be developed as a Blue-Green city with 30% green and water spaces. With Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, and well-planned urban infrastructure, Amaravati will be a future-ready smart city. A Greenfield airport will enhance global connectivity," Naidu said. </p><p>With global institutions, Amaravati will become a hub for health and education. We will implement Japan’s Miyawaki-style afforestation as suggested by Modi. All utilities will be delivered via viaduct systems, ensuring a green-energy, eco-friendly capital. Inland waterways, cycling tracks, district cooling systems, and walking paths will be introduced. XLRI Business School, Global Leadership Centre, and Ratan Tata Innovation Hub will be established,” he added. </p>
