<p>After being named in the CBI chargesheet in the Jagan disproportionate asset case, Andhra Pradesh home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy is keeping her options open from quitting the state cabinet to fighting the accusations legally. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Confiding in her cabinet colleagues, Reddy said she would prefer resigning from the cabinet on moral grounds. <br /><br />The late YSR made Sabitha the first woman home minister after Congress won the second term in the state in 2009. The 50-year-old three time legislator is widow of P Indra Reddy, who also served as home minister in N T Rama Rao cabinet. A visibly shaken Sabitha called on chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office here on Monday and informed him that she would like to quit her cabinet position to enable smooth investigations. <br /><br />However, the CM and the APCC President Botcha Satyanarayana asked her not to take hasty decisions.<br /><br />Sabitha, who met leaders from her constituency Chevella in Ranga Reddy district, said to have made up her mind to quit. “I have followed the rules and done nothing wrong,” she said. <br /><br />The development has shaken the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet as one of their own, Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, is already behind bars and another one, Dharmana Prasada Rao, is listed as accused. With Sabitha’s addition, there are fears that the growing list of tainted ministers would hurt the party’s electoral prospects in next year’s polls.<br /><br />However, indications are that more ministers may join the tainted list. With the CBI almost completing investigations on the role of Penna Cements and India Cements, the then irrigation minister P Laxmaih is likely to come under the scanner. The agency has already quizzed him and believed to think that he allowed additional water for the companies to boost production. <br /><br />Two other ministers, Dr J Geetha Reddy and Kanna Lakshminarayana are also under CBI’s scanner. Meanwhile the CBI special court here has extended judicial remand of Jagan Mohan Reddy, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, former minister M Venkataramana Rao and others in the MP’s assets case as well as the arrested accused in Emaar case till 15 April 15. M Venkataramana filed a discharge petition in court.<br /></p>
