<p>New Delhi: The central government on Friday announced a major bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing new secretaries across various ministries including finance, labour & employment, skill development & entrepreneurship, commerce, culture and civil aviation.</p><p>A 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre Arvind Shrivastava has been appointed as Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. </p><p>The post was vacant since Tuhin Kanta Pandey took charge as the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairperson on March 1. Following Pandey's departure, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth was holding the revenue department as an additional charge.</p> .<p>Before his elevation, Shrivastava served as an additional secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). His tenure in the PMO included overseeing critical portfolios such as finance, corporate affairs, and NITI Aayog. He was a key figure in the PMO involved in economic policies.</p><p>Seth, who is 1987 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, is set to retire on June 30. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, has picked Anuradha Thakur as replacement of Seth in the Economic Affairs Department. Thakur is a 1994 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre</p> .<p>A 1992 batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre Vumlunmang Vualnam will replace Manoj Govil and new expenditure secretary. Govil has been appointed as Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.</p><p>A 1994 batch IAS officer Rajesh Agarwal has been picked to lead the commerce department. Agarwal, who was additional secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been elevated as special secretary, Department of Commerce. He will take charge as Commerce Secretary after the retirement of Sunil Barthwal in September.</p> .<p>Eighteen IAS officers, including two working in the Prime Ministers’ Office, have been appointed to different central government departments as part of this secretary-level reshuffle. This major bureaucratic reshuffle comes ahead of the Civil Services Day celebration, which is scheduled on Monday.</p><p>A 1994 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre Vivek Aggarwal has been appointed as secretary in the Ministry of Culture. Before his elevation, Aggarwal served as an additional secretary in the Department of Revenue. He also held the charge of Director, Financial Intelligence Unit- India (FIU-IND).</p> .<p>Another IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre Hari Ranjan Rao has been named as Sports Secretary, as per details released by the Ministry of Personnel.</p><p>Samir Kumar Sinha, a 1994 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been named civil aviation secretary while Santosh Kumar Sarangi will lead the Department of New and Renewable Energy.</p>
