Centre notifies appointment of Chief Justices of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand High Courts

Centre also notified four additional judges of the Karnataka High Court as permanent judges and two additional judges of the Delhi High Court as permanent.

New Delhi: The Centre has notified the appointment of Chief Justices of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand High Courts.

It also notified four additional judges of the Karnataka High Court as permanent judges and two additional judges of the Delhi High Court as permanent.

Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal informed that Justice G S Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Justice Sandhawalia was earlier recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. In fresh recommendation on September 17, he was recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh on the retirement of Justice Rajiv Shakdher on October 18, 2024.

Justice Narendar G, judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.

Justice Narendar was appointed as a judge of the High Court of Karnataka on January 02, 2015. He was transferred to the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on October 30, 2023.

On September 24, the Supreme Collegium had recommended for appointment of Justice Narendar, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand consequent upon the retirement of Ms Justice Ritu Bahri on October 10, 2024.

Four additional judges Justices Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar, Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik, Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil, and Rajesh Rai Kallangala, have been made as permanent judges of the Karnataka High Court.

Justice Kallangala, however, would be permanent judge from February 1.

Two additional judges, Justices Shalinder Kaur, and Ravinder Dudeja have been appointed as permanent judges of the Delhi High Court.
