<div>Zee TV has stopped airing Pakistani dramas on its Zindagi channel and re-packaged it with Indian and Turkish programmes after actors featuring in these shows from the neighbouring country refused to condemn the recent terror attack in Uri.<br /><br />“Pulling out Pakistani TV shows from Zindagi channel is a symbolic act of protest against continuous acts of terrorism,” the channel’s website quoted Zee and Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra as saying.<br /><br />Chandra had requested Pakistani actors to condemn the Uri attack but they refused to do so, the television channel added. Chandra was recently elected as an independent member of the Rajya Sabha from Haryana with the BJP’s support. In a series of tweets, Chandra stated: “Zee has been the only supporter of Pak artistes. They either condemn terrorist acts, if not they can not do that (sic), leave…I fulfilled the promise that I made to Nawaz Sharif, gave slogan for reunion of the broken hearts. But, can there be a one-sided love? Will not shut down Zindagi channel but revamp programming without serials from Pakistan. We will have Indian subjects on Muslim communities.”<br /><br />The Zee group launched Zindagi in 2014 to air Pakistani dramas. Programmes like Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Maat, Shehr-e-Zaat and Dastaan became popular among the viewers.<br /><br />Recently, the channel had premiered a few Indian productions but none of them could match the popularity and TRPs of their Pakistani counterparts, the Zee TV stated on its website.<br /><br />“Zindagi, which became popular for bringing stories from Pakistan on Indian small screens, is now coming up with new Indian and Turkish dramas after announcing discontinuation of shows from the neighbouring country,” it added.<br /><br /></div>
