'Contraceptive for creativity': Kunal Kamra slams Ranveer Allahbadia for 'milking' 'India's Got Latent' row

Kunal Kamra has publically lambasted Ranveer Allahbadia over India's Got Latent controversy. Kamra called Allahbadia "stupid" and pretentious.

Comedian Kunal Kamra has publicly lambasted Ranveer Allahbadia over Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent controversy.

Kamra, while responding to a post made by Allahbadia on X, has accused him of "milking" the controversy.

Allahbadia, in his post, shared how the controversy had shaken his hard work.

He wrote, "It took me and my team 10 years to build BeerBiceps and The Ranveer Show to where they were. And in one incident, a large part of it was shaken."

"When the team looked to me for next steps, I found myself going back to Sant Kabir’s doha. A simple reminder that growth takes time, and so does rebuilding," he added.

The post seemingly didn't sit well with Kamra, who blasted Allahbadia and replied, "30+ artists including me were summoned by authorities for being on Latent. The whole comedy fraternity took a hit because of how stupid you’re."

Kamra went on to highlight the severe after-effects of Allahbadia's deeply controversial statement that had shook the life of comedians and said, "Shows were canceled, Venues pulled out, Judgements made, the pathetic shadow of your stupidity still continues to make lives of funny comedians difficult."

Kamra further accused Allahbadia of pretending to be the nice guy which he is not and went on to call him a "contraceptive for creativity".

"You didn’t even care to understand that side. Stop pretending to be the nice guy you’re not. Take your cheque’s, lower your gaze & be very ashamed. You’re a contraceptive for creativity, stop milking this & go back to what you do best which is being a hurdle for upward social change while FraudCasting & clout chasing…," Kamra wrote in reply.

Fans were left divided with Kamra strong choice of words. While some supported Kamra, others said Allahbadia is not the only one to be blamed.

A user wrote, "Samay Raina is equally to blame He could have edited it out But he chose to keep it, probably wising it would go viral for being distasteful."

Another wrote, "Eventually it was Samay Raina and team’s editing call which led to all of this. They called @BeerBicepsGuy and asked if he was okay with it Where were their senses?"

A third wrote, "I usually don’t agree with your opinion, but i am with you on this one!!"

A few others were visibly upset by Kamra's rude words and called him out. One user wrote, "It is not only Ranveer who said things that were not acceptable, the whole show had moment like these in many episodes. So stop pinning the blame of your dwindling career on someone else."

What's the controversy about?

Kamra's hard-hitting accusations come after Allahbadia, in a 2025 episode of India's Got Latent, had put across a lewd hypothetical situation in front of a contestant.

The controversial statement soon stirred up controversy and many called it inappropriate and disrespectful.

The controversy heated up when political leaders like Devendra Fadnavis, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Supriya Shrinate called out Allahbadia and warned him of legal action.

Several FIRs were filed against the artists present on the show including the host Samay Raina. The Supreme Court also slammed Allahbadia's language as obscene and shameful.

Following which, the show was called off and all the existing episodes were removed from YouTube in February 2025.
